A 30-year-old Valley man was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday for possession of child pornography, U.S. attorney Leura Canary announced.

Roger Keith Garner also is facing state charges in the attempted sodomy of a 3-year-old girl.

Garner had admitted possessing almost 90 images of children engaged in sexually explicit activities. The pictures were found on his home computer. Some of the images portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct, according to a news release from Canary’s office.

After his release, Garner will be placed under the supervision of the court for the rest of his life and must register as a sex offender, the release states.
