Here’s a Pile ‘O Charts from my trades today. I took seven trades, 3 losers for -2.2R, two breakeven, and two winners for +4.6R, leaving me at +2.4R for the day. My prop account overall PnL is up about +1.5R from my starting balance. I’m happy with those results for now, especially on the last few days we’ve had! I need to be quicker to cut a loser–I still have some of that bias left over from all of my retail trades, trying to save that daytrade!
Here’s the charts. As always, Red is my stop, orange my entry, green lines are for targets, and blue lines mark exits. On my trade in Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL), I partialed out successfully, taking some profits and letting the rest run, giving the one big win of 3.53R.
CAL Short (My good trade for the day)

Corporate Mareters are failing in Second Life while Communities Thrive.
This Wired Article
is great. It absolutely goes down the list as to wy traditional
advertising may not work as well in Second Life as it does in Real
Life. What it is missing is the other side of the story that highlights
local brands that are thriving. The marketing companies are not doing
sufficient engagement within the community to make the investment
worthwhile. In an environment where anyone can do anything and the
barriers to entry in any business line are summed up with time, effort,
and skill, it makes for a tough market. So why buy commercial Jeans
when I can get hand scripted designer jeans. Everything is a commodity
at L$250.
So how are successful brands doing it? How is the American Cancer Society raising over $100,000.00 USD
to support research, awareness activities, and run patient service
programs? The answer is not simple, but it revolves around something
that major corporations forgot at the dawn of Television. Mass markets
are just that, and in some cases special people deserve to treated
special. Care for your constituents, give them something of real honest
value, and they will support you all the way.

We all have our little secrets, and I’ve decided it’s time to confess mine. Here it goes…I’m a closet anti-feminist. It’s true, and now you know.
I do believe that working women should be paid the same as their male counterparts. But, I really don’t believe women with children should work if they can avoid it. I’m a member of the admittedly old fashioned school that says that a mom should be at home with her kids, unless she has no other choice.
Strangely enough, there is actually a website full of people who agree with me. The name of the website is Ladies Against Feminism.
The goal of LAF is to inspire women to stay at home with their families. They recommend either working part time, working from the home or finding ways to economize so that extra money is not a priority.

Awhile ago I received a lovely email from a reader. I feel guilty it’s taken me this long to get around to addressing it, but it arrived in the lead up to our camping trip. I was all a-tizzy with deadlines/laundry/list writing/packing and couldn’t find two seconds in a row to think about anything else.
Anyway, Alison, thank you for your kind words.
Alison also asked me about something I’ve been thinking about for quite awhile.
She wrote: “I was wondering what you do about allowances. Do you have them for your girls? Do you have them pegged to chores? Are you concerned they will buy complete crap and clutter your house :)”

Expanding on Media Research Center’s July 30 CyberAlert and a similar post at NewsBusters (bold is mine):
Nets Barely Notice Surge in GDP as They Focus on Dow Plunge
The ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts on Friday all devoted full stories to the fall in the stock market, touted as “the worst two-day point drop for the Dow in five years,” but barely had time for a sentence about the 3.4 percent second quarter jump in the GDP, the biggest in over a year. In fact, neither ABC nor NBC cited the specific 3.4 percent rise in the Gross Domestic Product, the measure which the AP on Friday described as the “best barometer of the country’s economic fitness.” Not one of the three evening newscasts mentioned how the Dow is still well above the 13,000 level it broke through in April and none noted fresh good news on inflation.
Not even reporting what second quarter GDP growth actually was (repeat: 3.4%) is flat-out negligence.

Being a young entrepreneur is not easy, you can be dismissed because of your inexperience, as not ready for the mean world of business. More so here in Europe as the US seems to accept young entrepreneurs: look to Facebook, Google, youTube etc. Though no doubt they had their struggles.
I thought I’d write a blog explaining what a young entrepreneur can offer as opposed to an older counterpart. *
Experience of youth market: While we don’t have business experience we are immersed in the culture of the youth market. We are part of that market; the ‘digital natives’. Young entrepreneurs (I think) can explain what’s trendy and what’s not.
Fresh ideas: There comes a time in the market when things just stagnate and its not clear how to progress and innovate. By nature young entrepreneurs tend to be less risk averse, we are ready to try new things. If it doesn’t work we a variant that might. It happened to search engines (Google with PageRank), social networking (FaceBook with it’s open API) and sometimes from out of the blue (million dollar home page). This brings me to the next point

THE federal Workplace Ombudsman is targeting the country’s 10,000 fast food and juice bars in an effort to ensure their usually young workers are paid their lawful entitlements.
Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson said he would also act to recover any unpaid entitlements revealed during his office’s campaign.
Sydney juice bar company Pow Juice became one of the first employers found to have misused the Federal Government’s workplace reforms in February this year and was fined nearly $50,000 for underpaying 22 young workers.

Ding Dong, the witch is dead!!
It’s a win for common sense, of sorts. There’s a story in Auto Motor and Sport today stating that GM will make it’s future Eurocaddies based on a rear wheel drive platform. Basically, they’re challenging themselves to make Caddies that will appeal to both Americans and Europeans.
Good luck.
This means that GM have seen the writing on the wall for the BLS and it likely won’t be continued when the next generation 9-3 comes. The writing on the wall that they’re still choosing to ignore is the supersized script saying YOUR STINKIN CADDYS DONT SELL HERE!!!
